Hi, I’m Danielle!

I’m a DONA Certified Birth Doula, childbirth educator, birth photographer, and former Labor & Delivery nurse. My career in women’s health and birth work began in 1996, and caring for families through pregnancy and birth has been woven into my life ever since. But long before any of those titles, I was the person friends turned to during pregnancy and birth. Looking back, I was doing the heart of doula work before I even knew there was a name for it.

My Story

My work in the birth world began in 1996, when I started working in OB/GYN offices. From there, my path led me to a birth center and eventually to Labor & Delivery nursing.

Becoming an L&D nurse was a dream come true, and I loved being part of such meaningful moments in families’ lives.

But over time, I realized the part of birth work I loved most wasn’t the clinical side. It was sitting beside a laboring mother, helping her breathe through the next contraction. Reassuring a nervous partner. Explaining what was happening when things suddenly felt overwhelming. Helping families understand their options and feel confident asking questions.

My heart was in the relationship.

Doula work gave me the opportunity to provide that kind of care in a way nursing couldn't always allow — continuously, personally, and without having to divide my attention among multiple patients.

In 2018, I stepped fully into doula work, and I haven't looked back.

Since then, I've had the privilege of serving families in Dothan, Alabama, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and now the Midlands of South Carolina. After supporting more than 160 births, I still consider it an incredible honor every time a family invites me into their birth space.

Experience You Can Lean On

My background as a former Labor & Delivery nurse gives me a unique perspective as a doula. I understand the hospital environment, the language your medical team is using, and how quickly birth can change — while also understanding that this is not simply a medical event. This is your birth.

I bring that knowledge into the room without stepping outside my role as your doula. I'm there to help you understand your options, ask questions, communicate with your care team, and feel supported as you make decisions that are right for you and your baby.

Over the years, I’ve continued to build on my experience through education and training, including Spinning Babies, Body Ready Method, Lamaze-based education, and ongoing professional development in pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and newborn care.

What It's Like to Have Me in Your Birth Space

If I had to describe the kind of presence I hope to bring to every birth, it would be calm, steady, and reassuring.

Sometimes that means hands-on comfort, position changes, massage, counterpressure, a TENS unit, or breathing alongside you through contractions.

Sometimes it means helping your partner know exactly how to support you.

Sometimes it means quietly reminding you of something you told me months ago mattered to you, helping you slow down when decisions need to be made, or simply looking you in the eyes and reminding you, You've got this.

And sometimes the best support is knowing when to step back and allow you and your partner to have the moment.

There isn't one "right" way to give birth, and I don't come into your birth with an agenda. Epidural or unmedicated. Spontaneous labor or induction. Vaginal birth or cesarean. First baby or fifth.

My goal isn't for you to have my version of a beautiful birth. It's to help you feel informed, respected, supported, and confident in yours.

Beyond Birth Work

I’m a wife, mom, grandmother, longtime military spouse, and now proud South Carolina resident.

Moving to the Midlands feels a little like coming full circle. My husband and I were married in Charleston 35 years ago, and after life's journey took us to many different places, a new job opportunity brought us back to South Carolina for this next chapter.

Outside of birth work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my husband, boating on Lake Murray, traveling, reading a good book, or curled up with a cup of coffee and my two miniature schnauzers.

After all these years, birth still amazes me. The strength of women amazes me. And being trusted to walk into such an intimate space in a family's life is something I will never take for granted.

Think We Might Be a Good Fit?

Choosing a doula is personal. Experience and credentials matter, but so does choosing someone whose presence makes you feel comfortable, heard, and supported.

I'd love to hear about you, your pregnancy, and what you're hoping for from your birth support.
